who needs a microwave?

If you know anything about me you know I L-O-V-E popcorn! My new favorite item I own are my popcorn bowls. This was the first time I popped popcorn with out a microwave! It is surprisingly simple. Check out my video of me doing it. All you need is Oil, the popcorn, a pot with a lid and heat. Plus some butter and chocolate to add to the greatness!

Not sure if I am the only one who sees humor in this but yesterday I went to fix my car. When I pulled up to the place and read the sign I had to laugh at the fact that it reads "room for rent" and there is a mattress out front. Is this the room for rent? hahaha! Like I said maybe I only find it funny.
Jonny googled "boonie dogs" and got cute little puppies. He did not believe me when I said they were U-G-L-Y! And that they are all over the place. Here is one that sleeps under my car at work. I feel so bad for them but what are you supposed to do run it over to put it out of his misery. I'm not sure if you can tell but his guy has his ribs sticking out he is so skinny.

A "New Old"Tradition

mac's gift exchange win...a snuggie and I tunes money!

Hello All! Since the crazy
happenings of the past year losing both of the Lystrup Grandparents we did the next best thing. Went to the Whitaker/Westbrook home! My mom said they used to do this when they were first married but it seemed a different to me. Since our old tradition included moving houses it was weird to stay in one place but the company was just as great!

What dad got in the gift exchange... A Fondue set. Also he is just tired not grumpy. (lets hope)

101 things I learned in college...everyone has a story or two, want to know just ask.

You are not going to get along with everyone Everyone is not going to like you or get along with you either You do have to be kind to everyone rather you like them or not Everyone has good in them, look for the good and run with it. Moving in container store tubaware drawers is the best If you don’t use it get rid of it Clean as you go. It’s worse to go back and clean it It’s easier to cook for a crowd or at least more than one person Service is the answer to all your problems The atonement is real and personal Life is easier when you’re organized Exercise makes you smarter you are only in control of you; don’t try to control anyone else You can’t always control your emotions but you can control how you react to them “Come what may and love it” Elder Ukdorf You can only give your best there is no more than best and you shouldn’t give less Always Smile J I am not always right Sometimes others ARE right. You will become your parents, embrace it! My parents sacrifice a lot; I find joy in seeing them in me sometimes you get crapped on and sometimes you are the one crapping. Humor can get you through almost everything Everyone thinks in different ways, embrace the way you think allow others to think how they do. Going crazy at finals is quite acceptable You can only regret things you did not try Stop worrying about things you can’t change; start worrying about things you can Teachers are human Grades do not always measure what you have learned College is not only for secular learning The bishop has stewardship over you Do your visiting teaching, sincerely; you never know when someone really needs a friend. All nighters are sometimes necessary Dairy Queen ice cream is better than Arctic Circles Free food taste better Stop comparing yourself to others There is a long line and a short one; it’s ok to find the short one. There is no cheating in art; only doing it a better, more economical way. Laundry takes a lot of quarters, be grateful for free laundry Some people that affect your life you will never see again Have a plan, but sometimes plans change Emergency stash of chocolate is necessary Stop caring what others think; start caring what your father in heaven thinks Take advantage of every opportunity Multi task when you can, brush your teeth and work out if you need to The ½er diet works Not everything works out how you thought it would Be considerate of others Care about people more then things Graduation will come Enjoy the weather; you never know how long it will be around Get help when you need help Get your cash as a write over at the store they don’t charge you the service fees the ATM does. Everyone has something to teach you, learn from others the process teaches you more than the result Drink water! Do not procrastinate repentance. Its rewards are sweet! Discovery of yourself is easier when you think about others Pray Always! You can find the lords hand in every day Writing it down helps you remember There is more than one way to do something; what works for one may not work for another Leaving your comfort zone provides growth Sometimes you have to play the game Temple attendance brings peace into your life Eating with others is more fun Everyone has agency; you cannot take that away from them Home is where you heart is; really. Open your heart to where you are. Never speed in Utah! You will get caught. Pick your battles. Ask yourself, Will it matter tomorrow, next week, next month, year… Preparing for lessons/class allows you to learn more Application of things learned makes it stick Sneaking M&Ms into the testing center helps your grades Miracles happen! Trials happen! Learn from every experience. Ask yourself. What am I needed to learn from this? Leave earlier to places you need to get to especially when construction is involved Be grateful. There is always something better or something worse. Idaho stars are splendid! A whole Big Jud burger makes your stomach hurt. Going to the doctor/being sick without your mom is not fun Thinking what would this person’s mother want me to do for them. This helps you with kindness. “College Creations” do not always turn out but you eat them anyway because its food Change is not so bad. A month in Europe only makes you want more Greek food is my favorite Sometimes it’s easier to buy new under ware rather than wash your clothes Be active in class. You learn more this way. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to. Thunder and lightning is almost harmless Having five roommates is like having five wardrobes You can save a lot of money by not spending your change Sometimes it is ok to be loud. Sometimes you have to be quite. Sometimes you have to cry, then breathe and do what you have to do Honestly- the best answer The wind never stops in Rexburg ;) Do not judge others; realize you are not perfect either. Walking everywhere you can help you stay healthy. Sometimes you have to let things happen as they come and not plan out every minute Distance from others helps you realize what you love about being with them BYUI does bring marriage to many, but if it doesn’t happen to you its normal. I love the sunshine but I love the seasons more

The life I once knew

started this blog at byui but never really put up pictures from there so here are some of my pictures of a life i once knew...

I think this is winter of 2008...we got snowed in on the way to school. We had to
stay in a hotel in Nephi if I remember right. on the bottom is Chantal and my car from our hotel window (I miss that car! but I dont miss the snow. ) on the top is our adventure to get ice cream at Wal-mart.

(top)sorry too lazy to flip but this is me about to brave
the snowy walk on the way to school. think its winter semester 2008.

(bottom)That is our thumbs up for the high temperature. I think it says 36 deg. Once upon a time that was top down weather!

The Rexburg Temple on dedication day...I miss seeing that on the hill.

As much as I loved those days I love the sunny island better! life was great then...image how great it is now!

sorry but life is too exciting to stop and write

Ray and Marty two of my students with this board we found in my class

I have been teaching for a little over three months now and living on this amazing island for about four months. My life consist of of three things school, home and YSA activities. I enjoy all of them.

being a teacher (or should I say mother, counselor, friend, adviser, nurse...) of about 80 students is intense. Lucky they do not come at once but they do want all their papers graded at once. I learned that life does not have to always have perfect order. Excitement comes in the unexpected and believe me the students bring the unexpected often. I learned that even when you prepare like crazy everything is not going to make sense. My new motto is going to be talk less and draw more...I hate drawing in front of my students! There is something about 20 sets of eyes, thats 40 eyes, judging me that i do not like. I am getting better at it but still not my favorite to draw in front of people.

home is small but fun. I decided I like my studio apartment. I had chances to move but when I thought about leaving my cute apartment it just makes me sad so I turned them down. We will see how I feel in a few more months when if I still live alone. But for now it is nice to have a place to go and get away from the craziness of life.

They put two new people in charge of YSA. We have had fun at FHE swimming, BBQ's, Institutes etc. Vance and I have great big dreams but we tend to drop the ball. We need to be better at fulfilling the greatness. I tend to procrastinate on big jobs...so maybe next year we'll be better reps. Sorry guys!
